  • Ag Day .....Texas CattleWomen join the Agriculture Council of America in the Ag Day celebration each March. www.agday.org

  • Texas Beef Ambassador Program....Texas CattleWomen are seeking youth between the ages of 17 – 20 to participate in the 2008 Texas Beef Ambassador Contest, March 15, 2008 in Corpus Christi. The purpose of the Beef Ambassador Program is for youth to know the nutritional value, cooking principles, safe handling and versatile use of beef, and to understand beef as an agricultural product. Contestants will be asked to deliver a 5 to 8 minute speech and complete an interview. Prize money will be awarded to the top three contestants: The 1st Place Winner will receive: $1,500, the title of Texas Beef Ambassador and an all expense paid trip to compete at the National Beef Ambassador Competition; 2nd Place: $1,000 and 3rd Place: $500. Registration ends February 1, 2008. See below for contest rules and registration form.   • Beef Gift Certificates.......Texas CattleWomen encourage consumers to include beef in their diet. Beef Gift Certificates are certified checks that can be used ONLY to purchase beef either at a meat market or restaurant. Certificates make great gifts.   • Beef Promotion for Father's Day.......Father's Day is the perfect time to prepare beef for a special person in your family. Either by giving Beef Gift Certificates or preparing their favorite beef entree, Dad will enjoy a healthy, nutritional meal.

  • Internship.....A $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who grew up in the industry and plans to continue in the beef industry following graduation.

  • Legislative......Communication with the government concerning legislation and issues relating to beef and the beef industry and those who live and work within this industry, is a big part of the Texas CattleWomen organization. Officials and legislators in Washington and Austin are best influenced by personal letters, telephone calls and/or sending faxes. Texas CattleWomen assist the American National CattleWomen in using the Legislative E-Mail Action Network "calling tree" to insure all members are informed about issues in the quickest time limit.   • Texas CattleWomen annually award a total of five scholarships.  Texas high school seniors are eligible to apply for the Pat Grote Memorial Scholarship, a $500 scholarship.  Students must be accepted in an agricultural related program at a Texas college or university.  $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually to college students pursuing careers in the fields of food and nutrition, agriculture communications or hospitality management.  The Ivomec Generations of Excellence Scholarship, also in the amount of $1,000, is awarded to a college student obtaining a degree in 'beef' or 'beef industry related' study.  The deadline for all scholarships is January 15, 2008.  Scholarships will be presented at the TCW Spring Convention, March 14, 2008 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
